About Mid-North Eye Center and Dr. Lawrence Stone
Mid-North Eye Center offers humanistic, patient friendly eye care at Blum Professional Office Building, located at Weiss Hospital.
Lawrence Stone, M.D. did both residency training and residency training at the nationally regarded University Chicago.
Dr. Stone also completed prestigious fellowships at Will’s University in Philadelphia and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Academic appointments have included U. of Chicago, Illinois Eye Institute and Loyola University.
Dr. Lawrence Stone is an accomplished ophthalmologist with a resume that over boasts over 40 lectures and publications on a host of topics, placing him in the top tier of Chicago clinical ophthalmology. As Chief of Ophthalmology at Weiss, Dr. Stone leads the section of 14 attending ophthalmologists.
Keeping up with the latest developments, Dr. Stone has adopted new techniques to Chicago ophthalmology, including balloon dacryoplasty, the self-retaining canalicular stent, the PASCAL Dynamic Contour Tonometer, fibrin glue conjunctival autograph technique for pterygium surgery, Optonol glaucoma shunt surgery and Cirrus ™ HD-OCT imaging for early glaucoma detection.
Dr. Stone is also one of the first glaucoma specialists in Chicago to user nerve fiber imaging (scanning laser ophthalmology and high definition ocular coherence tomography) as a way to detect glaucoma before visual loss occurs.
Herbert Becker, M.D. is a retinal specialist with an interest in diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Dr. Becker trained at U. of Illinois in Chicago and has a very busy clinical practice.
Roni Lee, O.D. does vision care, contact lens fittings and has an interest in ocular surface diseases including dry eyes and blepharitis. Dr. Lee attended Brown University for undergraduate work with a major in biology and did her doctorate at the Illinois College of Optometry.
